Since 1st January 1953 the Clifton Suspension Bridge has been managed and maintained by the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust (CSBT), a not-for-profit charity (No. 205658). The Trust does not receive any local or national government funding but must raise almost £1,500,000 each year to preserve the bridge in perpetuity to the highest possible standards. An Act of Parliament ensures that toll money collected from bridge crossings is used specifically to achieve this aim.
Our Visitor Centre receives no money from tolling is reliant on shop sales, donations and income from tours to cover its costs. Visitor donations make a big difference! Not only does your money help us to keep our Visitor Centre free and open for everyone to enjoy - but it can also support our education programme and allow us to develop new exhibitions or preserve objects from our collection. The more you donate, the more we can do!
